Synopsis

River City Theatre continues its 2026 season with Into the Woods, Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine’s Tony Award-winning musical that braids together the stories of Cinderella, Little Red Riding Hood, Jack, Rapunzel and a baker and his wife who are desperate to start a family.

What begins as a quest for happily-ever-after becomes something deeper once the characters discover what their wishes cost. With a shimmering score, sly humor and a second act that asks what happens after the fairy tale ends, Into the Woods turns beloved stories into a moving ensemble piece about family, responsibility and the choices we make when the path disappears.
