Synopsis
It’s the summer of 1776, and the nation is on the brink of revolution — if only the Continental Congress can agree to it. A sweltering Philadelphia chamber becomes the unlikely setting for one of history’s most consequential debates as John Adams, Benjamin Franklin, and Thomas Jefferson wrangle, cajole, and compromise their way toward a Declaration of Independence. By turns funny, romantic, and surprisingly suspenseful, this Tony Award–winning musical brings the founding fathers down from their pedestals and into the room where it happened.
