Synopsis
Twelfth Night unfolds in the enchanting realm of Illyria, where the shipwrecked Viola disguises herself as a man, Cesario, to serve the noble Duke Orsino. Orsino sends Cesario to woo the Countess Olivia on his behalf, but Olivia falls for the messenger instead. The plot thickens as Viola herself harbors a secret love for Orsino, leading to a comedic tangle of affection and mistaken identities. Further complicating matters are a colorful cast of characters, including the mischievous Sir Toby Belch, the hapless Sir Andrew Aguecheek and the clever Maria, who orchestrate their own form of chaos and revelry. Shakespeare’s play is a festival of wit, featuring poignant humor and sharp commentary on the nature of love and gender.
